Terme di Saturnia Spa & Golf Resort tops CNN’s list of wellness retreats as the best spa in the world, the property is among Lonely Planet’s top 10 healing springs in Europe and Fodor’s, the largest publisher of travel guides in the world, lists Saturnia among the best thermal spas in Europe. The resort distinguishes itself for its exquisite beauty treatments that use gold, diamonds and Antarctic ice, as well as for its medical treatments, and the healing powers of its pristine thermal springs.
The resort, part of the Leading Hotels of the World chain, Leading Spas of the World, Leading Golf and Virtuoso, is spread around the large thermal crater and includes a Deluxe Hotel with 140 rooms, the award-winning Spa and thermal pools. The 1-Michelin Star “All’Aquacotta” is located on the property as well as Ristorante Aqualuce, which prepares ‘zero-kilometer’, locally sourced Tuscan cuisine. Finally, and not to be missed is the golf course, an 18 hole par 72 spread out over 70 hectares of conservation land.
The true privilege of Terme di Saturnia arises from its exclusive connection to a thermal spring with exceptional characteristics. After a journey that begins deep within Mount Amiata, rainwater filters through the micro-cracks of the cavernous limestone, drop by drop in a process that takes nearly 40 years to complete. Enriched with a high concentration of gas and minerals, the pure spring water comes to the surface in the largest natural thermal pool in the center of the resort at a constant, womb-like temperature of 37.5°C (99.5.°F). A magnificent flow of almost 500 liters of water per second means that the pools are completely renewed every 4 hours, 6 times a day. With its four outdoor thermal pools, whirlpools and vascular treatments using cold and hot water, the Terme di Saturnia, which is open to outside visitors, is one of the biggest wellness oases in Tuscany.
